Mother/ Daughter Yoga Retreat

On January 10th, I'll be co-hosting a mother and teen daughter yoga retreat in Imperial Beach, CA.

This will be a powerful day for mothers to connect with their teen and pre-teen daughters through specialized yoga classes, art projects, journaling, and open conversations. We'll look into the many ways that yoga is benefiical for young girls, teenagers, and women in general. The lessons we learn on our yoga mats are ones that you will carry long after we the day comes to a finish. Experience love, laughter, connection, and a little magic.

1. Where will the event be held?

We’ll be on a private beach in Imperial Beach where we can take advantage of San Diego’s natural beauty in a secluded and spiritual environment. We’ll have access to a fire pit, lounge chairs, the ocean, and the soft sand. We will also make use of the indoor yoga room.

2. What do I need to bring?

  • Bring a yoga mat, or let us know ahead of time and we can provide one for you, and a towel.

  • Wear comfortable yoga clothing and bring layers for the cool evening temperatures.

  • If you’re attending the evening session, please bring a potluck meal to share. We want each mother/daughter pair to bring a meal that represents them in some way. Sharing food is a great way to build a connection, and maybe you and your daughter have a special meal that holds sentimental value for you. It’s a great way to get to know each other and share our differences!

  • Snacks (we will not be providing lunch).

  • A notebook for each person and something to write with.

3. What can I expect to gain from this experience?

This day is all about connecting with each other. We want to create a safe space where mothers and daughters feel like they can open up to each other. You may be going through a time of turmoil as your teen embraces adolescence, or you may simply want to share a day of healthy living. No matter what phase of your relationship you find yourselves in, this day will forge or strengthen that bond. Coming together as a group of women and young women creates a powerful energy that helps us to delve into the parts of ourselves that often remain quiet or untapped. We are able to learn from each other and remember that we are not alone in this journey. You can expect to laugh, sweat, cheer, and even cry. Hopefully, we’ll all come away with a handful of new friends.

You will also learn about the wonderful benefits of yoga and mindfulness for women of all ages and leave with a number of resources to support your continued education and practice.
