Yoga is more than the physical practice that many are familiar with. Yoga is a lifestyle, one based on ancient wisdom. It is about treating yourself and others with kindness and compassion. It is about having a healthy, mind, body and spirit. It is about connecting with your breath and practicing a number of forms of meditation. The goal is to practice yoga in everything that we do.  

 

The Benefits of yoga are endless, it truly is a magical, healing practice. The following are just a few of the benefits:

Through my experience of sharing yoga with preschool and elementary students, I've observed the following wonderful benefits:

  • Improved self-observation and regulation 

  • Connection to breath

  • Desire to seek quiet and calm

  • Development of concepts of kindness, compassion, and peace

  • Desire to share learnings with fellow students

  • Improved self-esteem and confidence

  • Understanding importance of self-care

  • Improved balance and strength

THE BENEFITS FOR TEENS:

While yoga and mindfulness are accepted for their many mental and physical health benefits, there are unique benefits that make the practice particularly useful for teenagers. Teenagers who practice yoga and mindfulness have been found to:
